When questioned, P&#257ind&#257 <u>Kh</u>&#257n defended his son-in-law and denied the charges levelled against him. However, Bh&#257&#299 Bidh&#299 Chand, at the bidding of Gur&#363 Hargobind, recovered the articles from &#256sm&#257n <u>Kh</u>&#257n's possession. Both P&#257ind&#257 <u>Kh</u>&#257n and &#256sm&#257n <u>Kh</u>&#257n rose against the Gur&#363, and enlisted the support of the Mu<u>gh</u>al <i>faujd&#257r</i> of Jalandhar.
